What the work actually is

You carry a caseload of Nevada workers' compensation files. You interview injured workers about their working lives, verify what they did and what they can still do, write assessments that a hearing officer may read, and build plans that get someone back toward the wage they were earning.

It is detailed work with deadlines, and it is work where being wrong has consequences for a person's livelihood. It is also work where you can see what you did.

Day to day

• Interviewing claimants, in English or Spanish, in person and by phone
• Verifying work history and education against the record
• Writing assessments, plans and progress reports
• Talking to adjusters, employers, physicians and training providers
• Job development — actually calling employers

What we look for

• Spanish and English, both working languages. Not conversational — you will take a claimant's history in it.
• Writing you would be happy to have read aloud at a hearing. Clear, traceable, no padding.
• Follow-through. Files move because someone keeps moving them.
• A relevant degree or certification helps — CRC, CDMS, CVE, counseling, special education, rehabilitation. If you have the languages and the temperament and not the certification, say so. We have trained people before.

Practical

The office is at 3230 South Buffalo Drive, Suite 102, Las Vegas. Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm. Some travel across the valley for interviews and job site visits. Compensation depends on credentials and experience and is discussed early rather than late.
